Def Leppard va sortir un EP intitulé Live at Abbey Road Studios pour le Record Store Day (21 avril 2018).

Def Leppard va sortir le 1er juin un coffret CD (et aussi vinyl) intitulé Vinyl Collection Volume 1 (et CD Collection Volume 1). Quatre volumes sont planifiés.

Eighties output remastered • CD and vinyl boxes • Rarities disc
In June, Universal Music will issue a new Def Leppard albums box set which will be available on CD and vinyl. It’s the first of four planned volumes which will cover the band’s complete recorded output
Vinyl Collection Volume 1 (and CD Collection Volume 1) contains the band’s eighties output: their first four albums, Live at the LA Forum 1983 and a disc of rarities.
Additionally, the vinyl set will include a recreation of the band’s first EP The Def Leppard EP which contains three songs recorded in 1978. This was issued in January 1979, 15 months before debut album On Through The Night was released. Interestingly, the CD box includes the same content on a three-inch CD single – nice!
The audio was re-mastered by Ronan McHugh and Joe Elliott at Joe’s Garage, and the vinyl LPs were cut by Greg Moore. Both vinyl and CD sets feature a hardcover book with photos by Ross Halfin and notes by Paul Elliott.
The Vinyl and CD Collections Volume 1 will be released on 1 June 2018.

Ca fait des années que la carrière studio de Def Leppard ne m'intéresse plus. J'ai dû m'arrêter à Adrenalize, dernier opus véritablement potable du groupe. Par contre, en concert, (d'ailleurs, on a attendu un live pendant plus de 25 ans et là quasiment coup sur coup, on en a eu trois : Mirrorball, Viva Hysteria et ce And There Will Be A Next Time capté à Detroit) force est de reconnaître qu'ils n'ont rien perdu de leur verve même si à un moment donné, Joe Elliot avait manifesté quelques signes de faiblesse. Morceaux béton notamment l'incontournable Let It Go, un titre de High 'n' Dry (mon album préféré sans hésitation, même devant le best-seller Hysteria). Sinon, tous les gros tubes sont bien évidemment là. Animal, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Love Bites, Rocket, Hysteria, Rock Of Ages, Bringin' On The Heartbreak et son sublime enchainement avec Switch 625 (un de mes morceaux favoris du combo de Sheffield si ce n'est mon préféré), Armageddon It et Photograph en conclusion. Bénéficiant d'une grosse production (on s'en serait doutés), ce live (accompagné d'un Blu-ray ou d'un DVD) qui présente également "quelques" titres (2 au total : Let's Go et Dangerous) du nouvel opus éponyme mais aussi une cover de David Essex, intitulée Rock On, joue parfaitement son rôle de "best of" live. C'est quand même ce qu'on lui demande.

En album studio récent, j'aime bien Songs from the sparkle lounge. Mais oui, rien ne vaut le vieux Def Lepp'.

Plus que 15 jours avant que je ne les vois big_smile

En terme de live, ma palme d'or va au L.A. Forum 1983 présent sur la réédition deluxe de Pyromania. Pas encore big rock, simplement du hard rock authentique avec une grosse patate. 14 titres tirés des trois premiers albums, plus une reprise du Creedence Clearwater Revival.
