Pas de topic Hawkwind ? Bon j'y remédie de ce pas. La plupart d'entre vous, j'en suis sûr, connaissent les albums mythiques que sont Hawkwind, In Search Of Space Doremi Fasol Latido, Hall Of The Mountain Grill, Warrior Of The Edge Of Time et le légendaire double live Space Ritual avec Lemmy à la basse mais aussi ces singles légendaires que sont Silver Machine et Master Of The Universe. Dave Brock n'a pas eu besoin de Lemmy, coincé au Canada pour détention de stupéfiants et viré manu militari en 75 pour continuer l'aventure du groupe. Propriétaire du nom et ce, malgré les nombreux procès intentés par du saxophoniste Nik Turner (qui voulait également utiliser le nom du groupe), Dave Brock s'est acoquiné avec des musiciens talentueux tels que Huw Lloyd Langton à la guitare, Tim Blake (ex-Gong) aux claviers, Alan Davey à la basse, a publié par la suite des enregistrements live ou studio parfois douteux en termes de son. Ceci dit, au milieu des années 80, on a eu droit à de superbes réalisations telles que ce double live intitulé Live Chronicles et récemment, nous avons été gâtés d'un superbe album Onward (2012) qui reprenait tous les ingrédients du space rock qui avait fait la gloire du groupe. Par contre, je n'ai pas encore écouté celui de 2016, The Machine Stops. De toute façon avec Hawkwind et ce, sous l'impulsion du père Brock, il y a toujours quelque chose de nouveau à se mettre sous la dent avec ce groupe dont les enregistrements sont estimés à plus de 200 albums !!!!!!!!

Recorded in 1975, the album is a ground-breaking classic of Hawkwind’s career. Featuring a line-up of DAVE BROCK, NIK TURNER, LEMMY, SIMON HOUSE, SIMON KING & ALAN POWELL, the album is arguably one of the finest rock albums of the mid-1970s.   This Atomhenge edition marks the first time that the original analogue stereo master tapes have been used for a remastered edition. This set also features a wonderful 5.1 Surround Sound remix from the original 16-track master tapes by Steven Wilson, who has also undertaken a splendid new stereo remix. This is Hawkwind… Soyez prudent ! Chaos, drogues, sexe, bagarres, complots, menaces, mutineries et vengeances sont au menu. L’histoire d’Hawkwind est une histoire incomparable où tous les coups sont permis. Lemmy, futur leader de Motörhead et Ginger Baker, légendaire batteur de Cream, ont été tous les deux recrachés comme des noyaux par ce groupe livré au chaos perpétuel. Ils se battaient contre le pouvoir, mais aussi entre eux, comme des chiffonniers, et souvent pour des pacotilles. Mais cette histoire regorge aussi de poésie, de fantastique, de science-fiction haut de gamme, de danseurs et de costumes extravagants, de spectacles hors normes, de sons électroniques et de stridences, de folie psychédélique et de grosses lignes de basse, de light-shows et de riffs hypnotiques. Hawkwind, c’est tout cela jeté dans un énorme shaker, et même beaucoup plus encore. Cette saga chaotique s’étend sur quatre décennies. C’est l’histoire d’un groupe issu de l’underground anglais des années soixante et qui, jusqu’à aujourd’hui, s’est bâti une solide réputation, en jouant dans les festivals gratuits et en donnant des concerts de soutien. Avec l’invention de la transe à base de riffs hypnotiques, Hawkwind était diablement en avance sur son temps. Mick Slattery, premier guitariste du groupe, en frémit encore : « Dikmik bidouillait son générateur, Nik soufflait comme un dingue dans son sax, Dave et moi on jouait en feedback, comme Jimi Hendrix, et Terry massacrait ses fûts. Les stroboscopes jetaient dans ce chaos une pointe de folie furieuse ! » Ce space-rock psychédélique et électronico-punkoïde unique au monde qui flirtait avec l’avant-garde va d’ailleurs initier la scène électro en Angleterre. Les fans de metal et les bikers sont toujours venus grossir les rangs d’un public resté fidèle. Comme par miracle, Hawkwind a survécu. Tel un vieux capitaine de flibuste, Dave Brock maintient le cap, l’œil rivé sur l’horizon.

Passionnant et très bien écrit, ce bouquin !!!!!! Un des passages intéressants concerne naturellement l'éviction de Lemmy, suite à son arrestation en 75 alors que le groupe était en route pour Toronto. Il était en possession de speed et non de cocaïne. C'est d'ailleurs lors de cet évènement bien précis que les véritables personnalités se sont révélées au sein du groupe, certains pensant au renvoi de l'emblématique bassiste depuis fort longtemps.

Nouveau live du groupe le 8 décembre. Le LP paraitra début 2018 :

Hawkwind’s performance at London’s Roundhouse from May this year to be celebrated in new 2CD/DVD live package

Hawkwind have announced that they’ll release a new live package later this year.

Titled At The Roundhouse, the performance was captured at the iconic London venue in May this year – and it’ll launch on December 8 on 2CD/DVD via Cherry Red Records.

The show was the first time in 40 years that Hawkwind had played The Roundhouse, and 45 years since they performed there for the Greasy Truckers Party album.

Hawkwind leader Dave Brock says: “Yes, it was really good fun playing back at The Roundhouse. After not playing there since 1977 – when we had Motorhead support us – it brought back many fine memories for me. Great venue!”

The May 26 performance culminated with former Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell joining the band for encore performances of Brainbox Pollution and Silver Machine – the hit version of which was recorded at The Roundhouse in 1972.

A multi-disc vinyl edition will follow in early 2018, with further details to be revealed in due course.
