Une chouette histoire de Ron McGovney, 1er bassiste de Metallica au sujet de Lemmy ... avec un Lars égal à lui même ...

"My Lemmy story goes something like this.....Motorhead were going to play at the Hollywood Palladium in June of 1982. The drummer of the band that I was in at the time ( You know him. His name is Lars) decided he wanted to go meet up with the band at the Beverly Sunset Hotel in Hollywood. Lars had told me that he ran a Motorhead fan club and we could get in free to the show. I am not sure why my room mate James didn't go, but it was just Lars and I riding in my '72 Pontiac Lemans. Lars decided that before we got to the hotel that we should stop and get some booze. A couple of beers would be cool , I thought. Lars didn't want beer. He wanted vodka and I was the one with the fake ID. I knew this wasn't going to end well, but I went in to the liquor store and bought the vodka and a six pack of Bud. when we got to the hotel, the Motorhead tour bus was parked in front and people we unloading stuff from inside. Then he walked out.....it was him. Lemmy! Lars walked up to him with his vodka bottle in his hand and said " Hey big man!". I was thinking...Wow, Lars actually does know him. Lemmy said " Hey Lars, who is your friend? " . Lars said " This is Ron. He is the bass player in my band Metallica". Lemmy was surprised that Lars was actually a drummer in a metal band. Lemmy told me that he would give me a couple of Motorhead shirts if I carried some bags in from the bus. Free shirts? Hell yeah! so I carried the bags while I followed Lemmy and Lars to the hotel room. I dropped off the bags and went out to the car to retrieve the Budweiser. when I got back to the room, Lars was downing the vodka pretty quickly. Lemmy told him to slow down, but Lars kept on. We talked for a while and then Lars decided to take a nap ( passed out ). Lemmy and I decided to go play video games at the corner liquor store while my band mate slept it off. When we got back to the hotel room , Lars had puked all over himself. Some woman who was with Lemmy apparently took a photo of Lars passed out. Lemmy said to me, "What kind of drugs did you give him?". I told him that he only had vodka and no drugs. It was at that time that I should clean up Lars and get him back to my house to sober up before the Motorhead show that evening. He was my ticket in to the show. I had to get him back to the Palladium. Well....we made it to the show, and I think James rode back with us. I think my friend David Marrs was with us too. I hear that the photo of Lars passed out ended up on some Motorhead record sleeve. I have never seen it. I ran in to Lemmy backstage at a Metallica show in the 90s. I told him if he remembered when Lars passed out at the hotel in Hollywood. He said " Your the guy who was with him!". I was honored that he remembered me. He raised his cup of beer to me and said "Cheers!". That was my lifetime Lemmy moment. RIP."

Triste nouvelle sad j' écoutais Motorhead hier en me disant que Lemmy allait pas tarder à nous quitter , mais je pensais pas du tout que ça serait ce jour là .
En allant rejoindre Wà¼rzel et Philthy , Lemmy a reformé l' ancien line up.

Je viens de découvrir ça, je ne suis pas spécialement fan de ce groupe mais d'apprendre cette triste nouvelle ça fait un gros choc en sachant tout ce qu'il a apporté au monde du Metal.

Génial mon premier sms ce matin... Journée de merde sad .

Je l'ai vu 7 fois en concert et j'ai toujours pris mon pied. J'espérai tant le revoir en Février... Bien sur un jour ou l'autre je savais qu'il allait partir mais putin je voulais pas... Quel choc ce matin en apprenant cette putin de nouvelle. Il y a vraiment du beau monde la haut stolt .

Motörhead et moi, ça remonte à 1979 quand j'ai acheté coup sur coup Overkill puis Bomber. Deux albums qui contenaient leur lot d'hymnes tels que Overkill, Damage Case, Stay Clean, Capricorn, Metropolis, le fabuleux Limb From Limb et l'imparable No Class. Sur Bomber, j'avais littéralement craqué sur Dead Men Tell No Tales pour lequel, ne possédant pas le très recherché EP live The Golden Years, j'ai eu enfin une version live sur le double live Live At Brixton Academy capté le 22 octobre 2000 dans cette salle mythique. Ceci dit, n'étaient pas en reste les très bons All The Aces, Lawman, Sweet Revenge, Sharphooter et Stone Deaf Forever. J'ai bien évidemment continué avec Ace Of Spades qui contient ce morceau-titre mémorable mais également des titres somptueux tels que Jailbait, The Chase Is Better Than The Catch et We Are The Road Crew. Puis il y eut cette déflagration live qu'est No Sleep 'til Hammersmith que j'ai écouté encore récemment et que je ne cesserai d'écouter encore toujours tant ce live est empreint "d'animalité". Ca saigne dans tous les sens, ce truc qui montre à quel point le trio était au sommet de son art à cette époque-ci. Iron Fist sorti un an plus tard montrait quelques petites fissures laissant supposer que le trio était en fin de cycle. Another Perfect Day (1983), injustement décrié à sa sortie, démontrait sous l'impulsion d'un Brian Robertson (ex-Thin Lizzy & Wild Horses) que le groupe avait encore des choses à dire et ce, grâce au percutant single Shine et aux morceaux One Track Mind, I Got Mine et Back At The Funny Farm qui l'étaient tout autant. Orgamastron sorti en 1986, nous propose un groupe inspiré sous forme de quatuor (le regretté Wà¼rzel, Phil Campbell, Pete Gill (ex-Saxon) et bien évidemment Lemmy) délivrant des morceaux d'une redoutable efficacité tels que Doctor Rock, Nothing Up My Sleeve, Mean Machine Machine. Je dois avouer que l'album suivant Rock And Roll (1987) m'a un peu ennuyé, le live No Sleep At All était sympa mais n'avait pas le panache de son illustre prédécesseur puis adoré 1916 puis March Or Die ainsi que Bastards. Sacrifice, Overnight Sensation, Snake Bite Love, Everything Louder Than Everyone Else (double live de folie), We Are Motörhead, Hammered, Inferno, Kiss Of Death, Better Motörhead Than Dead-Live At Hammersmith, Motörizer, The World Is Yours, les excellents Aftershock et Bad Magic m'ont remis progressivement sur les rails de la bande à Lemmy. Ce sera pour moi, un éternel regret de n'avoir jamais rencontré cette figure emblématique du Rock. Passe le bonjour à tous tes potes, cher Lemmy.
