THIN LIZZY have announced that AEROSMITH’s Tom Hamilton will be playing bass on the forthcoming Anniversary shows planned for 2016 / 2017.
Tom, an Aerosmith founding member, joins guitarists Scott Gorham and Damon Johnson, together with lead vocalist Ricky Warwick and keyboard player Darren Wharton on the following shows:
June 17th 2016 – Germany, Loreley – Freilichtbuhne (w/ Rainbow)June 18th 2016 – Germany, Bietigheim-Bissingen – Festplatz Am Viadukt (w/ Rainbow)
July 17th 2016 – Spain, Barcelona – Rock Fest
July 23rd 2016 – UK, Maidstone Kent – Ramblin’ Man Fair Festival
August 6th 2016 – Sweden, Rejmeyre – Skogsrojet Festival
January 19th-23rd 2017 – USA, Ft Lauderdale – Rock Legends V Cruise
Tom Hamilton: “I’m really psyched to be playing these shows with Thin Lizzy during my downtime with Aerosmith this summer. It’ll be great to rock out to their classic songs onstage”.
In addition to Tom’s appointment on bass, previously announced MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee has been replaced by JUDAS PRIEST drummer Scott Travis on all shows except August 6th in Sweden, where EUROPE drummer Ian Haugland will be on the drum stool.
Mikkey Dee:
“Unfortunately, due to circumstances that will be announced very soon, I cannot play the six shows with Thin Lizzy in 2016 & 2017. As a life long fan of the band, I truly wish I could have been a part of this, but the reason will be revealed as soon as possible. I wish my great friends Scott Travis and Ian Haugland all the best with these shows and I know they will kick ass!”
On his appointment, Judas Priest’s Scott Travis adds:
“First of all, let me offer a sincere Thank You to Brian Downey and Thin Lizzy for allowing me to sit in with the band! Thin Lizzy are undisputed legends and to be a small part of their lineage is a humble honor for me. I hope to do the position good. It’s gonna’ be a blast!”
All shows are currently on sale and please visit www.thinlizzyband.com for ticket information.

Exclusive: Guitarist Scott Gorham doesn’t think Thin Lizzy’s anniversary shows marked the end of the road for the band
Guitarist Scott Gorham says Thin Lizzy could take to the stage again and that trying to end the band would “be the wrong thing” in his eyes.
They lined up a string of European shows to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the death of frontman Phil Lynott and to celebrate 40 years since the release of their iconic Jailbreak album.
Since those dates came to an end, he’s been concentrating on Lizzy spin-off band Black Star Riders and their new album Heavy Fire.
And in an exclusive interview in the new issue of Classic Rock magazine, Gorham says Thin Lizzy could play again.
Gorham says: “I think it’s probably the end for long extended tours, but I think there’s always going to be a place where we can do these one-off special events.
“We all still love playing those songs, they’re still great vehicles for musicians to play on. To kill it off stone dead I think would be the wrong thing.”
Fellow guitarist Damon Johnson agrees, and adds: “I may have played Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back In Town as many times as Scott has. I’ll be playing those songs until the day I die.”
Last year, Gorham reported that some people thought he was crazy when he recruited Ricky Warwick to front Thin Lizzy, but had felt vindicated after the positive reaction to their first tour together.
Black Star Riders will head out on tour next month in support of Heavy Fire. They’re also scheduled to perform at this year’s Ramblin’ Man Fair.
