1976 is a new compilation box set containing the two versions of both albums, the original form and a new stereo mix by Richard Whittaker as overseen by Guitarist Scott Gorham and mastered by Andy Pearce. There is also a Blu-Ray containing an Atmos mix of both albums The other discs contain unreleased mixes from the bands vault, radio sessions, and an unreleased show from Cleveland.

The package housed in a 10 x 10 box is rounded off with sleeve notes by Mojo’s Mark Blake and has a hard-backed booklet packed with rare photos and memorabilia, with contributions from long-time contributor Jim Fitzpatrick.

Cet article évoque le moment (4 juillet 1979) où Gary Moore qui s'était réfugié chez Glenn Hughes, a lâché le groupe en plein milieu de la tournée Black Rose. Téléphonant à Hughes car il savait qu'ils étaient potes, Lynott lui aurait "pété la gueule" s'il avait appris que le Moore s'était réfugié chez lui. J'espère que lui et Hughes ne se sont pas croisés sur l'enregistrement de Run For Cover 6 ans plus tard.

Ces sessions acoustiques ont été remixées et réarrangées sous l'impulsion d'un Eric Bell qui s'est investi sans relâche pour finaliser cette production en compagnie de Brian Downey. Eric Bell a carrément ré-enregistré ses parties de guitare donnant aux morceaux que l'on connaissait déjà octroyant une nouvelle coloration, une nouvelle saveur à ces titres intimistes composés sur la première période du trio. J'en veux pour exemple ce premier hit qu'obtint le groupe à savoir Whiskey In The Jar bien plus rythmé et plus frais que dans sa version originale et ce Slow Blues de toute beauté gorgé d'émotion où nous entendons un Lynott, à fleur de peau, qui implore sa dulcinée perdue de ne pas le quitter. Tout comme d'ailleurs cet émouvant Here I Go Again qui figurait en face 2 du single The Rocker paru en 1973. Une bien belle sortie pour laquelle on aimerait une suite car il reste bon nombre de pépites à publier.

Il y a 20 ans eut lieu l'inauguration de la statue de Phil Lynott située à Harry Street en plein coeur de Dublin. Parmi les musiciens présents il y eut Gary Moore, Brian Downey, Brian Robertson, Scott Gorham, Eic Bell et Darren Wharton.
